As Client and Therapist, the initial session is an opportunity to see how it feels from both sides. There is no obligation to proceed from this point. We may take the opportunity to put into words the current challenges for which you require Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will address any questions you may have. This is a decision that both of us will have some input into and neither party will feel obliged to proceed.
The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to attend to your concerns so you feel heard and supported. The relationship is confidential and is based on respect and trust. I am trained and experienced to help people who experience problematic thoughts, feelings or behaviour. The process is a collaborative one and this should then help you to take control of your life and to understand the reasons behind your problems, which may help you to deal with these problems in the future.
My aim is to provide a non judgmental space to support you and your partner. My approach is to support to find a safe reflective space. There are various methods that I can offer utilising specific Cognitive Behaviour techniques and also more creative ways. In more recent years, I am including an attachment based therapy method called Relational Life Therapy that makes sense of the early self that enters our attachment in couples and how to navigate this. The aim is to support improved communication and a manageable way of discussing challenging parts of the relationship. Sometimes, I offer weekly tasks and in this way, common areas of the relationship become more easily identified within sessions. In this way, improved communication and intimacy can be achieved. I can now offer this both face to face and online.
I am now offering online sessions via Zoom, Skype, Facetime and calls. Please contact me for more information.
