Hi there, I am Louise Shuttleworth and I work with many clients who are looking for relationship counselling or couples therapy in Burgess Hill. As well as throughout all the surrounding areas in East & West Sussex, and now nationwide, through our online therapy service.
We are all facing many daily challenges in our day-to-day lives, especially in our current conditions. Working with your partner to get through these difficulties is integral to a happy relationship. I can work with you both to help solve any issues that you may have with each other. The stresses and strains of normal life as a couple, when work, children and families get in the way, can all put a strain on the most healthy of relationships.
It’s not unusual to get to a stage in your relationship where you feel like you’re not getting very far with solving problems between the two of you. With this in mind, it’s also understandable to feel like you could perhaps be on the edge of a breakup. But many couples who feel this way, see therapy as a last resort. However, relationship counselling should be viewed more as a preventative step in keeping a healthy relationship. As a result, I’ve worked with many couples in Burgess Hill who seek therapy sessions to help their relationship stay on track.
With 18 years of experience, and as a UKCP, MBACP Integrative Psychotherapist and AC Psychological Coach; I can help couples to understand behaviours towards each other. The couples therapy sessions I run help to ensure that both of you understand where your differences lie. In either my private consulting rooms or via online sessions, I can work with the two of you together to help understand the positive as well as the negative habits you may have in the relationship. As a result of these sessions, you should hopefully find that your relationship is more balanced, positive and healthy.
In the sessions, I will create a safe and reflective space for you both. With practical tools to support improved communication between you and creating a path to improved intimacy.
It’s completely understandable to find the idea of couples therapy a little daunting. It’s also quite normal to find it difficult to open up initially and start talking openly about how you feel. This is why the initial session is designed to help come to terms with these feelings. The initial stages should help you feel more comfortable with talking and letting out your feelings. You can take your time in opening up in a relaxed and calm environment. The first session is also useful to ask me any questions you might have about the therapy. Ultimately, this should help to make you feel more at ease. After the first session, there is no obligation to continue if you do not feel comfortable to carry on.
