Qualifications and professional training
Qualifications and professional training underpin my work with couples, adults, children, teenagers and families. I’m Louise Shuttleworth, a UKCP registered Integrative Psychotherapist and BACP member, with Full Practitioner Status in DDP and training in psychological coaching and clinical supervision. These approaches inform how I explore relationships, emotional difficulties and the effects of earlier experiences. I also draw on Theraplay Level One and Level Two training and am currently training in Relational Life Therapy for couples work. My practice is based in Brighton, with online appointments too.

Work with children and families
I hold Full Practitioner Status in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. I am also a LINK adoption counsellor and attachment-focused therapist.
My further training includes Theraplay Level One and Level Two. I completed the UKCP child proficiency marker in 2017.
These approaches inform how I consider a child’s relationships, their experiences and the involvement of parents or carers.
Coaching and supervision
I completed a Certificate in Psychological Coaching in 2013 through the Centre for Coaching, on a Middlesex University accredited course. I am an AC Psychological Coach.
My supervision training at Terapia in 2018 covered clinical work with adults, adolescents and children. I use that training alongside my own practice when supporting other therapists.
Current couples training
My couples work is increasingly informed by Relational Life Therapy. This training builds on my existing couples practice.
Continuing professional development
My additional training includes cognitive behavioural approaches, solution-focused therapy and work relating to children and young people. I continue professional development and attend clinical supervision to reflect on my own work.
If you need details of a particular qualification for a referral, supervision arrangement or insurer, please ask. I can discuss the relevant training and what it means for the work you are considering.

Welcoming people across Sussex
I apply this training in my work with people in Brighton, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Chichester. Local services include couples therapy across West Sussex, adoption support in East Sussex and supervision for Sussex counsellors. You are welcome at my Brighton practice. Online appointments can be considered if attending is difficult, with a quiet and private setting appropriate to the work.
