Teen counselling for families in Lewes
Teen counselling for families in Lewes helps young people talk about anxiety, low mood and difficulties involving school, friendships or family relationships. I give teenagers individual time to explain what they want help with, including things they may find hard to discuss with people they know. Conversation and creative activities can help us understand their feelings and what might make daily situations more manageable. Parents are involved through an agreed arrangement, with privacy and safety discussed at the beginning. Sessions are in Brighton or online.

When they want help but do not want everyone to know
A teenager may be willing to talk to someone while feeling uncomfortable about people at school or in their social circle knowing. We can discuss their concerns about privacy before arranging an appointment.
I’ll explain how the work is organised and what information is shared with parents. We also need to be clear about the limits of confidentiality, including how a concern about safety would be handled.
Teen counselling for Lewes families
Teenagers in Lewes are welcome, including those living in Malling, Landport and Southover, as well as Ringmer and other nearby villages. A young person may want someone outside their school, friendship group or family to talk to. I give them time to explain their own experience and what they would like help with.
We can meet at my Brighton practice, or discuss online appointments if attending is difficult. For video sessions, the teenager needs a quiet room where the conversation is private, with parental involvement agreed separately.
Time to explain their own experience
I have worked with teenagers since 2008, including in schools and NHS settings. I speak with the young person alone so they have the opportunity to talk without a parent answering or adding context immediately.
They may want to begin with a friendship, a worry about school or a disagreement at home. We can use that as a starting point without expecting them to explain the whole difficulty in one meeting.
Questions about getting started
Does school need to refer my teenager?
You can contact me directly to discuss private support. Tell me if any other professionals are involved so we can consider the existing arrangements.
What if my teenager is worried about being judged?
They can ask me about the way I work before deciding. There is time to get to know each other, and I will listen to their account of what is happening.
Can a parent attend some appointments?
We can discuss that where it would help. Individual time for the teenager remains important, alongside any agreed family work.
