I am Louise Shuttleworth and I am a specialist psychotherapist. Providing a wealth of knowledge and experience for relationship counselling or couples therapy in East Sussex. I also offer online sessions, which can help with many of the different challenges you may be currently facing.
If you ever get to a stage in your relationship where you feel like you’re not getting anywhere with solving problems, it’s understandable that you may feel like you could be heading for a breakup. The stresses and strains of normal life as a couple, when work, children and families get in the way, can all put a strain on the most healthy of relationships. Especially in these trying times!
Although relationship counselling is usually viewed as a last resort, it should be seen more as a preventative, positive step towards a healthy relationship. With the extensive knowledge and the experience I have gained, I’ve worked with many people throughout Sussex, providing therapy and counselling sessions to couples.
I can help couples to have a better understanding of their behaviour towards each other. I am a UKCP, MBACP Integrative Psychotherapist and AC Psychological Coach with 18 years of experience in this field. By working with you and your partner, I can help you to build a positive, happy and healthy relationship. An important part of couples therapy sessions will help to ensure you both understand where your differences lie.
Through face-to-face therapy, or via online sessions, I can work with both of you to help understand the positive as well as the negative habits you may have developed in the relationship. In most cases, couples therapy can really help steer your relationship in the right direction.
It’s completely normal to find the idea of couples therapy a daunting prospect. It may feel difficult to open up at first and be able to openly talk about your feelings. This is what the initial session allows you to do. The first session is also useful to ask me any questions you might have about the therapy, as this should help to make you feel much more at ease. You can rest assured that you will be in a calm and relaxed environment. Also, there is no obligation to continue if you don’t want to.
These sessions offer the opportunity for both parties to contribute in a weekly methodological approach. Here, I will help to create a safe and reflective space where you can be open to speak. The support I give, will hopefully help to improve communication between you both, adding a path to improved intimacy.
Couples therapy should always be approached in a collaborative manner. This helps both parties to understand each other’s problems and help you deal with them in the future.
